Genre: NA - Contemporary Romance

Series: The Marked Men (book 6)

Publication Date: 21st April 2015

Format: ebook / print

Jay Crownover’s New York Times and USA Today bestselling Marked Men series continues with the much anticipated story of southern charmer and certified criminal Asa Cross.

Starting over in Denver with a whole new circle of friends and family, Asa Cross struggles with being the man he knows everyone wants him to be and the man he knows he really is. A leopard doesn’t it change its spots and Asa has always been a predator. He doesn’t want to hurt those who love and rely on him, especially one luscious arresting cop who suddenly seems to be interested in him for far more than his penchant for breaking the law. But letting go of old habits is hard, and it’s easy to hit bottom when it’s the place you know best.

Royal Hastings is quickly learning what the bottom looks like after a tragic situation at work threatens not only her career but her partner’s life. As a woman who has only ever had a few real friends she’s trying to muddle through her confusion and devastation all alone. Except she can’t stop thinking about the sexy southern bartender she locked up. Crushing on Asa is the last thing she needs but his allure is too strong to resist. His long criminal record can only hurt her already shaky career and chasing after a guy who has no respect for the law or himself can only end in heartbreak.

A longtime criminal and a cop together just seems so wrong . . . but for Asa and Royal, being wrong together is the only right choice to make.

My Rating: 5 out of 5 stars!

I was so sad going into this book. I mean, it is the LAST of the Marked Men! It's kinda devastating as I LOVE these guys! I love the gals that love them. I love their banter, their friendship and the strong message that family isn't always blood. Family is what you make it and, make no mistake, these guys are each others family and over the last couple of years they have become a much beloved part of my book family. That is why it suck serious balls that this is the final book... I feel like I'm losing part of my family.
On the plus side, I'm sure we'll catch glimpses of them in The Saints of Denver spin off series which I'm already twitching to get my mitts on.

As for the story of ASA... Sigh. It was lovely. Just lovely. He and Royal were everything I was hoping for and more. Their chemistry is awesome, the heat between them something else.
Both have their issues, and their issues make them stupid at times, but that's life. They worked it out and found their way to each other in the end and it was all kinds of awesome watching them get there.
Forgiveness, redemption, love and sacrifice all have their place in this addictive story, that I read in one sitting because I just couldn't put it down. I was one of the ones who really didn't like Asa when he first came into this series. It took a long time for me to trust the Southern charmer and, although he'll never supplant Jet or Rowdy in my book-boyfriend affections, the dude had seriously stolen a piece of my heart by the end of it all.

There is lots of catching up with the rest of the Marked family in this one and I was left grinning like a goober at where they are all at. Seriously - warm fuzzy feeling alert!
There was also an added emphasis to some of the "non-marked" secondary characters which I think were set ups for the Saints books and I had no complaints with that. The set-ups didn't distract from the story of Asa and Royal, but were worked in in such a way that they added value to the story.

All in all, this was a brilliant way to end this fantastic series!

Amazon Barnes & Noble * iBooks * Kobo

And don’t miss the previous books in The Marked Men Series!

(P.S I use the UK covers, because a. I'm British and b. I don't think the others capture the men very well but these capture the women perfectly... to me anyway.)
