Review: Getting Lucky Number Seven by Cindi Madsen
Publication Date: 28th April 2015
What's your lucky number?
Lyla Wilder is done being the shy, chemistry nerd extraordinaire. While every other college student is out having fun, Lyla is studying. With her cat. Well, she's played it "safe" quite enough, thank you. So she creates a "College Bucket List"―with item #7 being a night of uninhibited, mind-blowing sex...
But she needs some help from her man-whore best friend.
Hockey player Beck Davenport thought Lyla's transformation would be subtle. Man, was he wrong. With every item she ticks off, Beck finds himself growing seriously hot for his sweet, brainiac best friend. And if he's not careful, he'll end up risking their friendship in order to convince Lyla that he might just be her lucky #7...
My Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars!
This was a really easy book to lose myself in for an evening.
It's the type of book that you start reading and get absorbed to the point you don't notice the passage of time or the fact your thirsty, hungry or needing the loo. It's pure, undiluted, smiles, fluttery feels and happiness.
Lyla is an incredibly likeable character and Beck is absolutely scrumptious! Together they are adorable and I couldn't stop reading it even if I had wanted to.
For me, it was a perfect example of a friends to lovers romance. Yes, it was a bit cliché and predictable (sexy manwhore jock and the geeky chick that takes of the metaphorical glasses and becomes a goddess) but when it works it works and for me this definitely worked!
I'd say read this if you like any of the following (as it contains them all): Cat memes, geek jokes, sexy jocks, quirky chicks, manwhores (with hearts of gold), friends to lovers, humour, snark, light-hearted feel good feels, minimal angst / drama.
I'll definitely keep an eye out from more of this author!
