Review: Stone Cold Touch by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Series: The Dark Elements (book 2)
Publication Date: 21st October 2014
Every touch has its price
Layla Shaw is trying to pick up the pieces of her shattered life—no easy task for a seventeen-year-old who’s pretty sure things can’t get worse. Her impossibly gorgeous best friend, Zayne, is forever off-limits thanks to the mysterious powers of her soul-stealing kiss. The Warden clan that has always protected her is suddenly keeping dangerous secrets. And she can barely think about Roth, the wickedly hot demon prince who understood her in ways no one else could.
But sometimes rock bottom is only the beginning. Because suddenly Layla’s powers begin to evolve, and she’s offered a tantalizing taste of what has always been forbidden. Then, when she least expects it, Roth returns, bringing news that could change her world forever. She’s finally getting what she always wanted, but with hell literally breaking loose and the body count adding up, the price may be higher than Layla is willing to pay…
My Rating: 4 out of 5 stars
After reading White Hot Kiss I was confused as to how there could be a love triangle in this trilogy as Roth was so obviously the one and Zayne nothing more than the beloved friend/former crush but considering how White Hot Kiss ended I figured Zayne would be the main focus of this book, 'cause how could it be Roth?, and I was both right and wrong; Zayne and Layla's relationship builds and develops but Roth is always there, still obviously the one for Layla and the result was kind of painful as you just knew it would just result in a painful shit storm... And it does!
That being said, this book is filled with lots of feels, good feels, bad feels, ugly feels, confused feels, angry feels, frustrated feels, tingly feels; You name the feel and the book probably has it! It's also packed full of action, JLA humour, and it all makes for a wonderfully enjoyable story that I didn't want to put down.
It ends in a - ARGH!!!! - cliffhanger that leaves you jumping up and down on your seat for the next one, so I'm going to move on straight to the next one!
P.S - Can I have a Bambi?! & a Roth universe? Pleeeaaassse?!!
