Series: Scarred Souls (Book 2)

Publication Date: 10th November

Blurb:
Raised as a prototype for the Georgian Bratva's obedience drug, 221 fails to think, act, or live for himself; he's his master's perfectly-crafted killing puppet. Standing at six-foot-six, weighing two-hundred-and-fifty pounds, and unrivaled in to-the-death combat, 221 successfully secures business for the Georgian Mafiya Boss of NYC, who rules the dark world of the criminal underground. Until his enemies capture him.

Talia Tolstaia dreams to break from the heavy clutches of Bratva life. She dreams of another life--away from the stifling leash of her Russian Bratva Boss father and from the brutality of her work at The Dungeon, her criminal family's underground death-match enterprise. But when she stumbles upon her family's captive who is more monster than man, she starts to see the man underneath. A powerful, beautiful, damaged man whose heart calls to hers. But sacrifices must be made--blood for blood...life for life...souls for scarred souls...

My Rating: 5 out of 5 Stars!

My Thoughts:

Before starting this book I knew nothing about the author or her writing style. I had no clue whether it was part of a series, or a standalone. I'd heard no chatter about it on the 'grapevine'. All I had was the blurb. And I LOVED the blurb. So I jumped straight in.
Almost immediately I knew I was missing something, the book has alternating viewpoints and in one of the viewpoints it was painfully obvious that there was a huge back story I just didn't have, so I looked it up and discovered this was book two in the series. I debated putting it aside and buying and reading book one before continuing with this but decided against it. Despite being missing a load of back story I found that I picked up the general gist of what happened in the past well enough that it didn't get in the way of this story, and what a story!
It's dark, gritty and suspenseful. Nothing about it is pretty except for the gorgeous and unusual love story that builds throughout giving you loads of happy "You are...For Me" feels. The book has an interesting premise and it is wonderfully written. It was so good, I inhaled in one sitting. I couldn't put it down and I'm not kidding that I did a happy dance screeching I knew it! at the epilogue.
Next move, buy book one and pre-order the next one asap!
Really recommend this book to anyone who is looking for something different in their romance selections.
