Review: Legend by Katy Evans
Series: Real (Book 6)
Publication Date: 9th Feb 2016
Maverick “the Avenger” Cage wants to rise to the top and become a legend in the ring. Though he keeps his identity well guarded, he's known on the fighting circuit as the new kid with a chip on his shoulder and a tattoo on his back that marks him as trouble. He's got a personal score to settle with the Underground's one and only Remington "Riptide" Tate.
As Mav trains, he meets a young girl—the only other new person in the town--and sparks fly. When things get heated between them, he finds out she's none other than Reese Dumas, the cousin of Remington Tate’s wife. A girl who's supposed to root against him and a girl he's supposed to stay away from.
But Maverick fights for the woman in his heart, and the monsters in his blood. The world’s eyes are on them and the victor will go down in history as the ultimate fighting champion; the ultimate LEGEND.
My Rating: 5 out of 5 stars
This book really intrigued me. Katy Evans returning to the world of MMA with a challenger to Remy's awesomeness as the lead? How could I fail to be intrigued? But would the book be anywhere near as good as I wanted it to be? The answer is YES! I really, really, enjoyed this book! It's different from Real, but better for it. The connection between Marverick and Reese is potent, but the book has an oddly 'PG' feel to it despite there being a steamy moments... Maverick, while having enjoyed women in the past, isn't a manwhore. He's a little cocky, but not so arrogant you want to punch him in the face. His coach - Oz - reminds me of Haymitch from The Hunger Games and that makes me kinda love the guy. Reece is young and finding herself, her insecurity is endearing and so is Remy and Brooke's little dude Racer! Gah, there was just so much to like! Plus, there was no freaky licking / scenting crap! How's that for a win?
The ending was awesome and I inhaled it.
Definitely two-thumbs up from me.
